Description
A totally unique one off classic square tail longboard with full resin panelled union jack artwork. This board was inspired from the 1960s iconic Britannia board that was made for Rodney Sumpter by Bilbo in Newquay. Sumpter surfed it in 1966 at the World Surfing Championship in San Diego, California where he finished 5th. The board has since vanished from trace and become something of legend with vintage collectors. See the photograph of Sumpter holding the original board, taken by Doug Wilson.
This board is 9’6 x 23″ x 3″ and has soft 50/50 rails throughout making it ideal for cruising on long peely waves. The low rocker allows for early wave entry and plenty of glide whilst surfing. The bottom consists of a large spoon concave in the nose, running into a rolled belly through the middle and turning to slight vee in the tail. Best ridden with a large fin for extra hold whilst on the nose.
